The international break has reared its head for the first time this season, which now means it’s time for football fans worldwide to live in complete fear of their star players getting injured before returning to their respective clubs.
For Tottenham supporters, the last thing they need is one of their new signings being crocked whilst representing his country. Spurs have endured an inconsistent start to their Premier League campaign, registering a good win over Aston Villa on the opening day before holding Manchester City to a 2-2 draw away from home.
A 1-0 defeat to Newcastle proceeded their visit to the Etihad, though, while they were undone in the second-half of last Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal, drawing 2-2 with the Gunners after initially leading their rivals 2-0.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men take on Crystal Palace after the international break, and desperately need a win to ensure confidence is installed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Summer signing, Giovani Lo Celso, has kicked off his career in England fairly well, despite only featuring for a total of 44 minutes off the substitutes’ bench so far. The 23-year-old has averaged a pass completion rate of 91.3% throughout those 44 minutes (via WhoScored).
Currently away on international duty with Argentina, Lo Celso was subjected to this horrible tackle from Chile’s Charles Aránguiz, with this harrowing still photo surfacing on Twitter.
Spurs fans have been quick to react to Aránguiz’ challenge, although Lo Celso himself has explained that it was “nothing to worry about”.
Great news but he doesn’t even try and get the ball, embarrassing challenge.

If that isn’t ligament damage, then I’m not sure what is

Chile plays dirty, i said before the game that Lo Celso was most likely of our players to return injured.

I am actually mad. Always happens to us. He never was injured before but have a guess, he is now a Tottenham player

Just like N’Dombele’s injury was minor and nothing to worry about…
