Tottenham fans take to Twitter to delight at Lloris Champions League award nomination

Despite coming in for loads of stick at times over the course of this season, Hugo Lloris really played a blinder against Borussia Dortmund, didn’t he? The World Cup-winning captain from last summer has done a great job in getting his act together though and his display in Germany was truly world-class, earning him a nomination for a POTW award.

Tottenham fans can all take some time out of their day to vote for their skipper on the Champions League website, where one of Lloris, Dusan Tadic, Romelu Lukaku or Moussa Marega will be crowned the Champions League player of the week for the last few days of action. Unfortunately, the chances are Tadic’s incredible display at the Bernabeu will likely overcome Lloris’ heroics.

Despite the fact the award is surely Tadic’s to win, Lloris cannot be knocked for his performance. The Frenchman was the hero at the Westfalenstadion and his seven saves kept the Lilywhites in control of the tie in the first half before Harry Kane stepped up to bag the only goal of the game, effectively killing the tie off and making Lloris’ evening a much easier one for the rest of the game.

The Lilywhites are expecting to see Tadic win the award but are still thrilled with their Frenchman’s top performance from Tuesday evening.
