Tottenham fans take to Twitter to tear into Aurier after Turf Moor nightmare

Tottenham fans have long been frustrated with the standard of their full-backs. Ben Davies and Danny Rose at left-back are less problematic but on the right-hand side of their defence, the Lilywhites are desperate for improvement. Kieran Trippier has been poor this season and given Serge Aurier’s display yesterday, he’s not much better.

Burnley usually provide Tottenham with a tough game of football. In the last ten meetings between the sides in all competitions, the Lilywhites have only recorded a win by a margin of two goals or more on three occasions. Yesterday was again a tough battling performance from the Clarets, yet they were certainly aided by the incompetence of Aurier for their winning goal.

With the pressure on and the score at 1-1 going into the final minutes of the 90 at Turf Moor, Aurier fired a bizarre clearance, if you can even call it that, into Jack Cork in the danger zone who started the move that saw Sean Dyche’s side take the lead. That mistake could prove costly come to the end of the season, and it would never have happened had Aurier been switched on instead of hooking the ball up and into the danger zone.

The Lilywhites will be fuming with Aurier for a while after his error and will hope he doesn’t cost them against Chelsea or Arsenal in their next two games.
