Tottenham fans have come to hate transfer windows over the last 12 months. The two most recent transfer windows have brought nothing but the exit of Mousa Dembele, with no incomings whatsoever. However, TEAMtalk has broken an exclusive that claims Tottenham had a £27 million bid for Aleksandar Mitrovic rejected on deadline day.

Whether or not TEAMtalk’s exclusive is accurate is a different story, but the Lilywhites are just delighted that they didn’t fork out on a massive move for Mitrovic. The Lilywhites currently have both Harry Kane and Fernando Llorente as their two senior strikers, with Heung-Min Son also able to deputise there despite being a winger by trade.
The thought of splurging that kind of money on a player like Mitrovic is one that the Lilywhites want to avoid. The Serbian may bring goals, but his brutal style of play and inconsistent disciplinary record makes him a player that would only be bad news for the North London faithful. If he had made the move, Mitrovic would have provided a short-term fix for their injury woes, but as soon as Kane is back the Serbian would become a £27 million substitute.

Imagine trying to replace Llorente.

But Llorente is better anyway

No better than Llorente and that's saying something.

Not our type of player, he fouled us left, right and centre.

Llorente is better than this bum

The Lilywhites hate the fact they were almost stuck with Mitrovic and are glad that they’ll be continuing to use Llorente as Kane’s deputy.
