Though the headlines leading into Tottenham’s game with Man City were more about the condition of the pitch, instead of the game itself, the fixture was of the utmost importance to the Lilywhites.
It was set to be a real test of character and quality, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men enjoying a good league run this season. City are, of course, the best team in the Premier League at present, and so if the Lilywhites were able to beat them, that would have put down a real marker for their intentions this term.
That didn’t happen, with the Lilywhites’ performance not quite what fans were expecting. They were pretty poor, and they failed to really threaten Ederson’s goal.
In truth, the biggest chance they had came from Erik Lamela – and it involved a very poor miss from the Argentine just inside the area.
Naturally, this moment got a lot of Tottenham fans talking online, and it’s fair to say that they aren’t happy at all. They clearly expected better. One fan has pointed out that the lack of lethality could be behind the mixed form of Spurs in all competitions, like in Europe, whilst others were simply frustrated.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
