Tottenham’s summer transfer window was very famous for all the wrong reasons.
The club became the first team in the Premier League transfer window history to fail to spend a single penny on a player. Some have argued that they are already paying the price this season for their frugal summer, as they have been rocked by injuries.
However, there have been rumours recently that Spurs are planning a spending spree over the winter transfer window. Fans took to Twitter to discuss this prospect, and one of our regular punters delved through to see what they thought.
It is clear that Tottenham fans are not particularly confident that their team will do much in this January, but they should not be so dismissive. Not only are Tottenham rumoured with far more players now than they were at any point before last transfer window, but they have already learned their lesson over their spending inertia.
In order to avoid a disaster this season, the club simply must spend money. With the added worry that start defender Toby Alderweireld may be leaving the club, not only will they receive money to spend, but they will certainly need to recruit new faces at the back.
Furthermore, there were also a lot of rumours of a list of players that would leave Tottenham over the summer. As no one left, the club clearly did not have the opportunity to buy anyone in, as they didn’t want to be overstocked with players. However, either they will unload some players in January, or they may well be willing to play the price of players wasting in the reserves in order to bolster their squad.
There are clearly reasons now why Spurs will not treat the upcoming transfer window as they did in the summer; they have learned their lesson and will act accordingly.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
