A good performance from Tottenham tonight is absolutely essential, at least according to the fans in the Transfer Tavern. They’re coming off the back of a disappointing display against Arsenal over the weekend, and so they’ll want to bounce back quickly. Borussia Dortmund are a top side, though, and so it won’t be easy.
It has come as a huge surprise to the fans in the pub, then, that – at least according to the Times – Mauricio Pochettino is planning a few changes for the clash. The Times reports that Pochettino is going to change things up slightly, and one key player could be a casualty of that: Dele Alli. Alli, it is said, may miss out on a starting berth in the game – though he remains likely to feature at some point during the clash.
It would certainly be a very bold call to not start him, given how important he has been to Pochettino’s plans this season. He has bagged 3 league goals so far this term, continuing to excel alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen under Mauricio Pochettino.
Still, Spurs have already qualified from their group, and so perhaps its a decent chance to give him a rest.
Tottenham are a different side without Dele Alli, and so given that they’ll want to bounce back after their last defeat, it’s going to be tough for them to improve their form.
They’ve got the quality and strength in depth, though, and so perhaps Pochettino has something up his sleeve.
With or without Dele Alli, though, it’s going to be tough.
