Tottenham Hotspur have been unfortunate with injuries this season, having seen a number of players spend a significant period of time on the sidelines already.
The likes of Dele Alli, Cristian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen, Hugo Lloris and Danny Rose are just a few names that Mauricio Pochettino has had to cope without for spells already.
However, it appears he could have to spend a lengthy period of time without Mousa Dembele as well.
The Belgium international was forced off in the first half against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend and HLN, via Sport Witness, are claiming he could be out long-term.
It is understood that Tottenham are “fearing the worst” with the report adding that “presumably the ligaments” will have been affected.
Dembele has had a number of injuries during his time at Tottenham and this one will come as a huge blow to Pochettino’s side.
The centre of midfield is already a concern with Victor Wanyama expected to spend some significant time on the sidelines, so the Belgian’s latest setback comes at an untimely moment in their season.
There is still some doubt about whether Dembele will be a Spurs player next season with his contract set to expire in the summer, however, it may now be difficult for Tottenham to get anything for him in January if he does spend a long time out.
