Tottenham flop wanted in shock £20 million swoop?

Paulinho

Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were left shaking their heads in disappointment following Paulinho’s latest performance for the Brazilians last night, so the news from The Telegraph has come as something of a relief.

The publication reckons Italian giants Juventus are ready to offer as much as £20 million for the midfield flop, in a move that could pave the way for Arturo Vidal to join Manchester United.

The 27-year-old Chilean has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, and reports in Italy suggest Juventus have accepted he is likely to move this summer.

Paulinho – who only moved to Tottenham 12 months ago – is seen as a like for like replacement, although Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to demand closer to £25 million for his services.

Paulinho was one of the major disappointments of Brazil’s World Cup squad, which crashed out at the semi-final stage losing 7-1 to Germany last week.

They ended their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in the third place play-off on Saturday evening.

Tottenham paid Corinthians £17 million to sign the midfielder last summer.
