Tottenham given boost as Luis Suarez won’t be risked by Barcelona

Tottenham Hotspur will take on Barcelona in their Champions League match on Tuesday night, knowing that they will need to match Inter Milan’s result.

Spurs sit level with the Italian giants in the group on points and could need to beat the Spanish outfit to ensure they qualify for the next stage of the competition.

The Premier League side will need to perform a lot better than they did in the previous meeting between the two sides, however, it appears as though Mauricio Pochettino has been handed a boost ahead of the game.

According to a match preview by Sky Sports, Luis Suarez will not be risked by Barcelona as boss Ernesto Valverde is keen to see his star recover from his knee injury fully.

The Uruguay international is a huge threat going forward and would likely have caused an injury-hit defence a number of problems at the Nou Camp.

Erik Lamela is also available for Spurs to further boost the club’s chances of reaching the next stage, although both Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier are both unavailable through injury.

The Verdict:

Although Barcelona have a number of stars in all areas of the pitch, not having Suarez could be the boost Tottenham need on the night.

The £63million-rated striker, as per Transfermarkt, is a world-class forward and has proven to be deadly in front of goal regardless of the side he has played for.

Added with the return of Lamela, Tottenham will need to attack Barcelona as much as they can, with Inter Milan’s fixture likely to be in the back of their minds throughout the duration of the game.
