Tottenham Hotspur have been impressive so far this season despite not spending a single penny during the summer transfer window.
The Lilywhites will be desperate to challenge for the title under Mauricio Pochettino, but it’s fair to say that they need to take maximum points from the smaller sides if they are to achieve this. Although, the London club suffered a setback on the transfer front recently, as according to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur have had a bid rejected for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Ajax have reportedly rejected a €50 million (£44 million) offer for Frenkie de Jong from Tottenham.
However, Spurs are hoping to snap him up first but will have to improve on their first bid of £44 million ($58 million), which was knocked back.
And, to make matters worse, Barcelona and Roma are also in the race for the midfielder, with the 21-year-old being a top target for the Spanish giants.
Spurs will be desperate to secure the services of the youngster at some point in the future as the future of Mousa Dembele remains uncertain.
Although, with the likes of Barcelona and Roma also interested in securing the services of the midfielder, the London club may find it tough to rival them for the signature.
Supporters will be delighted that Spurs have reportedly placed a bid for the impressive midfielder and that they still want to push through a deal.
