Tottenham have company in race to land Dutchman

Tottenham Hotspur fans are looking up from their pints here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by talkSPORT that another club has made a play for their target this summer, Jordy Clasie.

The club in question are Fiorentina and the offer has been confirmed by Clasie’s current club Feyenoord who whilst admitting the offer are still waiting until the summer to decide what they want to do with the player.

This of course will unsettle Andre Villas-Boas who is preparing for an assault on the Champions League next season and baring a monumental collapse or some seriously bad Lasagne, Spurs should find themselves competing amongst the top clubs in Europe. To do this they want the best players and Dutchman Clasie has been identified as one of those.

Sadly for Spurs they are not the only club at the tea party and add to this the fact that the midfielder is one of Feyenoord’s top players, it will not be easy to prise him away from the club itself let alone beat others to him.  Technical director Martin van Geel claimed to Voetbal that ‘We do not need to sell him, nor do we particularly want to but we have to think of the player’s ambitions and evaluate offers from other clubs.’
