Tottenham Hotspur fans would be forgiven if they did not know about the transfer window. Mauricio Pochettino’s side may not have been involved in the last two when it comes down to acquiring players, however, that does not appear to have stopped the rumour mill from involving them in stories.
There is no doubt that Spurs need to invest in their squad in the summer, especially if they are to compete for silverware, and one man is thought to still be on their radar that could seriously help them taste success.
What’s the News?
The Guardian are reporting that Tottenham continue to hold a long-standing interest in Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech.
18 goals and 16 assists to his name this season, the 26-year-old has been in sensational form and has emerged as one of the best playmakers within European football, as well as helping his side dump Real Madrid out of the Champions League.
And, given how good the playmaker has been for the Eredivisie outfit during his time in Amsterdam, it should not come as a surprise to see the interest from Tottenham remain and a target they should look to do all they can to sign.
Ziyech has the ability to pick out his team-mates with defence-splitting passes and regularly finds the back of the net, which could benefit the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli and take some pressure of their shoulders.
Extremely dangerous from long range and set pieces, the Morocco international has the technique and all-around play to turn Spurs into a title-winning side and one capable of going the distance – something fans will have been concerned about in recent campaigns.
With Christian Eriksen’s future at the club in doubt, the 26-year-old could be the ideal man to replace the Dane and slot straight into Pochettino’s side.
However, it is almost guaranteed that Daniel Levy will need to break the bank if he were to try and sign him, but if Tottenham want to win silverware in the near future, it might have to be a risk he should take.
Tottenham fans, do you think Ziyech would be able to lead the club to glory? Should Levy splash out on the Moroccan in the summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
