It sounds like we’re going to have quite a summer in the Football Transfer Tavern with today’s copy of The Express suggesting that both Liverpool and Tottenham are ready to battle Manchester United in one of their summer transfer pursuits.
Manchester United want to sign Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw but will now face competition from both the Reds and Spurs.
Former United boss David Moyes had outlined a double offer for the Saints pair before he was dismissed earlier in the week.
Now their Premier League rivals could take advantage of this uncertainty by moving for the highly-rated England duo.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be able to offer them Champions League while Spurs are also keen on their services after failing to reach the elite European competition despite spending over £100 million last summer.
The pair are thought to be valued at around £60 million together by the south coast side who go into the summer with the possibly of losing their manager Mauricio Pochettino to the White Hart Lane.
If the Argentinean replaces Tim Sherwood it could open up the prospect of Lallana and Shaw following him to North London.
Where do you think the Saints pair will be heading this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
