Tottenham Hotspurs are already thought to be in talks about bringing in a player who could potentially replace Toby Alderweireld in the future.
According to a report by Calciomercato, Spurs are in ‘pole position’ to land Sampdoria’s Joachim Anderson.
It is claimed that the Serie A club’s vice-president, Antonio Romei flew into London on Wednesday to hold discussions about a possible transfer.
It is understood Anderson could be available for €25million, although Tottenham will have some tough competition in the summer.
The likes of Juventus and Inter Milan, who have both been able to see the player up close and personal, are thought to still be in the chase for the Dane.
With both Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen getting on in terms of age, Anderson could be a brilliant option for Tottenham to look to.
The 22-year-old has been impressive this season for the Italian club and has a number of traits that would make him appear to be a good fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with his ability to play out from the back just one highlight of his game.
However, with the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus still believed to be in the race for his signature, how long Spurs remain in ‘pole position’ remains to be seen.
