Tottenham hoping to beat Arsenal to French international

Pair up Jay Bothroyd and Loic Remy Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were hoping that Loic Remy would be starting for France in this evening’s World Cup last-16 fixture against Nigeria.

Because according to the Metro, Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to pip North London rivals Arsenal to his signature this summer.

The French international has been heavily linked to both clubs in recent weeks after it was revealed that Remy would not be staying at Queens Park Rangers despite their promotion back to the Premier League.

“He won’t goes Spurs because he wants Champions League,” quips the landlord who loves to remind the Spurs locals that they yet again failed to qualify despite spending more than £100 million last summer.

The punters joke but Champions League football is a major deal to Remy who was spotted in the crowd at the Emirates Stadium towards the end of last season.

The former Marseille striker is available for £8 million this summer and Mauricio Pochettino wants him to lead the line at White Hart Lane next season, but will that be enough to lure him?

Tottenham fans. Does a deal for Loic Remy signal the end for major Spanish-flop Roberto Soldado? Let us know your thoughts below.
