Tottenham hoping to derail Liverpool’s transfer swoop

Dejan Lovren Fans are streaming into the Football Transfer Tavern on the lookout for rumours, and they have found one.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are still keen to hijack Liverpool’s bid to take Dejan Lovren from Southampton.

Saints have reportedly put a £15 million price-tag on the Croatian international defender’s head amidst interest from the duo among others.

It is Liverpool that are in pole position for his signature with the ability to offer Champions League football giving them the upper hand.

However Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, who managed Lovren during his time at Southampton, is apparently confident of linking up with the 24-year old once more.

The North London outfit conceded a whopping 53 goals in the league last season, having spent more than £110 million in the summer of 2013.

Their defensive frailties saw them lose three times in a season to rivals West Ham United and it is no surprise to see Pochettino look for reinforcements.

Tottenham fans. Is Lovren the man to build your new defence around or is there better options on the market for the money? Let us know your thoughts below.
