Tottenham Hotspur are being left frustrated in their attempts of tying Christian Eriksen down to a new contract as the midfielder continues to shun talks with the club.
According to a report from the Mirror, the Londoners have put a whopping £200,000 a week contract offer on the table to the Danish midfielder.
Eriksen though is refusing to be drawn into discussions over a new deal with the Premier League outfit, despite Spurs admitting there has been no sign of a concrete bid from the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona as things stand.
The Dane has continued to be picked by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino in the opening few games of the season and he has gone about his business as expected.
However, Eriksen’s reluctance to get himself tied down to the club will be a concern for both fans and Pochettino alike throughout the season.
Eriksen has been a key player for Spurs and racked up an impressive 12 assists last season for the club. In comparison with this, fellow attacking midfielder Dele Alli only managed five assists, with Eriksen also netting eight times in comparison to Alli’s five in the Premier League.
Those stats only highlight further just how important Eriksen is to Spurs, and it will be a devastating blow to the club if they do indeed lose him in the coming weeks.
Eriksen is so important for Spurs but there is only so long this can drag on for before it surely starts affecting form and performances.
The Dane is crucial in that he provides for his teammates but at what point do they begin to question his commitment to the cause?
Pochettino has a tricky situation to handle here and one he could probably do without for now.
