According to recent reports, Tottenham Hotspur are planning a move for ACF Fiorentina centre-back, Nikola Milenkovic.
Since moving to Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in what was a £4.59 million deal back in 2017, Milenkovic has gone on to feature 111 times for La Viola, chipping in with 10 goals and providing one assist along the way.
So far this season, the £25.2 million-rated 23-year-old has highly impressed for Cesare Prandelli’s side, scoring two goals and providing one assist, as well as averaging 1.7 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 3.2 clearances per game, over his 13 Serie A appearances, culminating in an average WhoScored match rating of 6.96 – ranking him as the club’s best performer in the Italian top-flight (excluding Federico Chiesa, who left for Juventus earlier this season).
And, it would appear that the Serbia international’s impressive performances have caught the Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, as La Nazione (via Sport Witness) report that Fali Ramadani, the defender’s agent, has received an offer from the north London side.
Would you like to see Tottenham make a move for Milenkovic in January?
Transfer Tavern Take
Considering the fact that Mourinho missed out on the signing of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in the summer transfer window, it is not difficult to imagine the 57-year-old wants to add further quality to his defensive setup at Spurs, particularly as it would appear that Davinson Sanchez does not have a future at the club.
And, if these reports are to be believed, it could well be Milenkovic who comes into Spurs in January to replace Sanchez.
Looking at his statistics while playing for Fiorentina, it is not hard to see why the 6 foot 5 colossus has been dubbed the ‘new [Nemanja] Vidic‘, and he would certainly appears to be a smart signing for Tottenham.
