Danny Rose is set to stay at Tottenham Hotspur this season after offers of a move away collapsed, according to The Sun.
The England international was given time off from the club’s pre-season tour to work on a move away from the club.
There was interest from Paris Saint Germain and Juventus, though nothing concrete came about. Barring a late shock, Rose is expected to stay at the club for the new campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino discussed the star’s future last week and said:
“I told you in Singapore and China. I think I was very clear about the situation of the squad. Danny Rose like another 25 or 26 players are here and are my players. I don’t know what I need to say because I was very clear in the past.” (Source: The Sun)
Rose has been linked with a move away from Spurs since last year, where he was allowed to leave the club.
The 29-year-old was part of the side who helped the club reach its first-ever Champions League final. Rose made 34 appearances as he battled Ben Davies for that left-back spot.
The England international’s defensive statistics weren’t the best last season, with Rose averaging more than one in just the number of tackles made per game. According to WhoScored.com, he was the joint-sixth best defender at the club, showing his lack of form.
Rose would not be missed if he left the club, however, as a move seems unlikely, keeping him as part of the first-team squad is the only option. He should keep a place in the squad, but, only as second-choice left-back to Davies.
