Some of the Liverpool fans in here today getting a bit tipsy after one too many pints are getting news in from Metro, that Tottenham and West Bromwich Albion are set to go head-to-head to sign their ageing striker, Rickie Lambert, in this transfer window.
Lambert, who despite his meteoric rise from lower league football to caps for England and the big money move that saw him leave Saints for Anfield, has been a dwindling force over the past year.
The striker, now 33, only managed to start 12 games last season and with the rise of Jordan Ibe and the arrivals of Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke to the club, Brendan Rodgers is likely to cut his losses on this player.
While West Brom apparently fancy signing the striker, Tottenham is also a likely destination, where Lambert would link up with former Southampton boss – Mauricio Pochettino.
What do you think Liverpool Fans? Will you be sad to see him leave? Spurs fans could Pochettino get a new lease of life out of the striker? Let us know below!
