Hugo Lloris could have been the villain for Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, however Spurs fans took to Twitter to praise him for his performance in the second half.
“I was really upset with myself, but I think it’s more about how you respond and I’m really pleased with my performance in the second half.”
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) September 28, 2019
The hosts managed to overcome the challenge of Southampton with a 2-1 victory as the France international goalkeeper had a role to play for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Tanguy Ndombele got the ball rolling for Tottenham when he fired home before Serge Aurier made life a lot more difficult than it needed to be for the north London outfit.
The Ivorian was sent off for two bookable offences and then Lloris appeared to lose his mind as he attempted to play with the ball at his feet and was caught out by Danny Ings before the half-time whistle.
Indeed, Harry Kane came to the rescue for Pochettino as he fired home in the second half, however the ‘keeper also had a say in ensuring they would keep all three points and get back to winning ways after a dreadful run of form as the 32-year-old made two ‘world-class’ saves in the final 45 minutes of the game (Sky Sports).
Football.London handed him a rating of five out of ten, however that did not appear to have any bearing on how supporters viewed his performance after the match.
Following the final whistle, fans took to Twitter to share their delight with the World Cup winner after the game and many shared their thanks with Lloris, despite his grave error in the first half.
Here are just some of their reactions…

Lloris didn’t hide, and he won us that game. Maximum respect. He came over to the fans at the end and applauded, as they chanted his name. The fans at the game acknowledge what he did, so ignore the nobodies on social media.
