Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter could not believe Mauricio Pochettino brought on Victor Wanyama to play against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
90 – Well played, Winksy!
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) September 28, 2019
With the match entering the final minutes, the Argentine decided to add some defensive reinforcements to his ten-man side via the introduction of the Kenya international.
Wanyama replaced Harry Winks just as Spurs headed into stoppage time with their slender 2-1 lead, with Pochettino seemingly feeling to shut up shop, especially with one less player on the field following Serge Aurier’s first-half sending off (Sky Sports).
Although the 28-year-old was on the field for all of three minutes or so, many of the Tottenham fans were not happy to see him come on.
Plenty of them appeared to lack confidence in the defensive midfielder’s ability to help them see out the game, that many of them took to Twitter to state that they felt their side would end up drawing the match against Southampton.
Here are just some of their reactions…
