In his article discussing takeaways from Spurs’ 5-0 FA Cup win over Marine at the weekend, Football.London’s Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is delighted with the quality of the midfielders being produced by the Lilywhites’ youth academy at present.
In their post relaying this article on Twitter, Football.London explained that Levy ‘will be excited’ about the north London club’s future, with Gold himself retweeting the post, whilst explaining in his article that excitement is due to their young midfield options.
Which Tottenham Hotspur players have got Levy excited?
Gold explained that the performances of 19-year-old Harvey White and 16-year-old Alfie Devine versus Marine, in addition to ‘the rave reviews’ 20-year-old Oliver Skipp is getting on loan at Norwich City, will be very pleasing for the Spurs chairman.
Skipp has started every Championship fixture for top-of-the-table Norwich so far this term, while White played the joint-most passes (90) of any Tottenham player versus Marine. Meanwhile, half-time substitute Devine scored in that game and also made the joint-highest number of tackles (two) of any Spurs player, per WhoScored.
An exciting dream for Levy
Gold declared that ‘all chairmen dream of creating their own stars from within their academy,’ explaining that supporters tend to have a better connection with these players and bringing them through can save the club a lot of money on transfer fees. It would seem that Levy is not an exception to that rule based on this article.
Are you excited about Spurs' young midfield options?
Per Football.London, the midfield options being produced at Spurs ‘are making everyone very happy’ at the north London club at present and if that’s the case, then that is surely a positive sign for these players’ futures at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
