Former Tottenham Hotspur player Garth Crooks was left raving over Son Heung-min after his performance against Crystal Palace last Saturday.
The South Korea international scored a brace as Spurs won 4-0 against their London rivals, their first win in three Premier League games. Erik Lamela and a Patrick van Aanholt own-goal rounded off the scoring for the Lilywhites, who were 3-0 up in the first 23 minutes (via BBC).
Crooks praised the winger’s performance against the Eagles, calling his performance ‘electric’.
He said: “I can’t believe Son has not scored a hat-trick in the Premier League. If anyone deserves to have that statistic firmly emblazoned on his CV it is the South Korea international.
“Son was electric against a Crystal Palace side who are blowing hot and cold these days and, against Spurs, were freezing. I understand manager Mauricio Pochettino spent an hour in a “clear the air” meeting with his players. If that’s the response, would he mind saving those discussions for the really big games?” (Source: BBC)
Son has returned to the form he showed last season, already scoring two and assisting a further one in just three Premier League appearances this season. He will prove a crucial asset for Mauricio Pochettino for the remainder of the season, especially when you look at the goal contributions after him.
The South Korean contributed a mass 18 goals in the Premier League last season, the third-most in the squad with the next highest just 10. This shows that the margin in quality between Son and the next best attacker at the club is wide. If Son was to get injured, the team would lose a considerable amount of goals from the team. His fitness is paramount to the club, who can ill-afford to lose him.
