Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing 6ft 3 attacking midfielder?

Pochettino fails to strengthen in January Fans of Tottenham Hotspur inside the Football Transfer Tavern will be pleased to hear the news coming out of Italy surrounding the future of Fiorentina midfielder Josip Ilicic.

Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that the coveted 27-year old Slovenian international could be available for a move to the capital for around £5.5 million.

After a spell at the end of last season where he netted seven goals in nine games, he could prove to be a shrewd signing for Mauricio Pochettino, who would surely be eager to sign a player who has his best years ahead of him.

Always highly-rated and scouted by English clubs, Ilicic who is formerly of Palermo, impressed in the Europa League clash between Fiorentina and Spurs last season and this will surely be a big factor if the North London club do decide to pursue the front-man. At 6 ft 3 in, he would instantly add some extra physicality to the Spurs attack, but as a versatile attacking midfielder adept at playing a number of positions his acquisition could cause some friction amongst the squad.

Some of the Tottenham supporting punters around the bar here in Transfer Tavern like the idea of this rumour becoming reality but what do you think? Could Ilicic flourish at Spurs? Would he struggle to adapt to life in the Premier League? Let us know what you think of this one in the comments below!
