Juventus have contacted Christian Eriksen over a possible free transfer in the summer of 2020, according to The Daily Mail.
The Danish international has entered the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
The Italian champions have been shrewd in the transfer market in recent years, snapping up players on free transfers quite regularly. This summer they completed the double signing of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot on frees from Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain respectively.
Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move away from Spurs all summer long with Real Madrid and Manchester United constantly named as interested parties. The Old Trafford giants, however, reportedly ended their interest in the Denmark international after believing he had his mind set on a move to Spain.
Daniel Levy is known as a shrewd businessman which can be seen in the high fees he has fetched for many of Spurs players in the past. Gareth Bale is a key example, who was sold to Real Madrid for a then world-record fee of £85m back in 2013.
It would be a huge loss for Tottenham Hotspur if they were to lose the Danish playmaker on a free transfer. The club need to ensure they sell him this summer if they cannot get him to sign a new contract, especially after all of the money they have pumped into their new stadium.
It has previously been reported that the new stadium cost the club more than double the amount that was originally projected. If they can sell Eriksen this summer rather than lose him on a free, then it will go a long way to possibly settling some of the debt that hangs over the club.
Last season, Eriksen scored and assisted 27 goals in all competitions as he was part of the Spurs team to reach Champions League final. That should be enough to see the club fetch a sizable fee for him if they were to sell him this summer.
Eriksen proves far too valuable for Spurs and cannot be allowed to move on for free. The club must do all they can to extend his contract or sell him this summer.
