Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur this summer with the Red Devils likely to sell following the arrival of Victor Lindelof, according to The Sun.
The England defender could be the one to fall foul of the new Swedish arrival at Old Trafford and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is considering bolstering his own back four with the signing of the 27-year-old.
After flopping in the Champions League last season the Spurs boss is keen to ensure that he has the required experience within his squad to cope with the demands of domestic and European football, with Smalling identified as a viable option to do just that.
The central defender has been with Manchester United since 2010 and the England man has played over 150 games for the club during his time at Old Trafford.
The writing does seem to be on the wall for Smalling, however, with a whole host of clubs seemingly interested in securing his services for next season.
Spurs’ inclusion in the Champions League could see them hold the aces however and a return to his native London could also be a big factor in any move to North London.
One Spurs fan is basking in the glorious sunshine here in the Tavern’s beer garden and he thins that Smalling would represent a solid piece of business, stating that his experience could prove vital next season.
