Marcus Edwards could seal a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to Football London’s Alasdair Gold.
Edwards spent the summer training with Championship club Brentford, however, with the Championship transfer window closed, he is unable to move to West London.
According to Gold, the likelihood is that the youngster will follow the likes of Jadon Sancho and Reece Oxford in moving to the Bundesliga.
With as many as seven different options on both wings, it would seem that Edwards is far down the pecking order.
On the right-wing, the 20-year-old is likely to be behind Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura. Eriksen finished last season as the club’s second-highest goal contributor, scoring and assisting 27 goals in all competitions.
In comparison, Edwards was far behind the Denmark international, scoring just two and assisting just four in 25 games in the Eredivisie.
Aside from goals, Eriksen also trumped his younger counterpart in key attacking statistics. The Dane played more key passes, more average passes and had a higher pass percentage per game than the 20-year-old.
It would be best for both Edwards and Tottenham Hotspur if the player moved on. There are far too many experienced options ahead of him in the pecking order right now.
