Tottenham Hotspur are likely to offer Oliver Skipp a new contract in the near future, according to a report by Football.London.
It is claimed the 18-year-old could be in line for a fresh deal after developing his game further following the new agreement he received last year.
Skipp has certainly started to show his worth to the Spurs side in recent times, as it appears rather evident that Mauricio Pochettino has a role for him to play in his first-team.
Since making his debut, the 18-year-old has gone on to make 14 appearances for the senior side, which has included two Premier League appearances this season – although both of them have come as last-minute substitutions (Transfermarkt).
Despite not playing in the Champions League for Spurs, the teenager was named on the bench for seven of the 13 encounters they played, however he was not in the matchday squad for the final against Liverpool (Transfermarkt).
Skipp managed to make an impact in the middle of the field when given the opportunity, as he averaged 0.9 tackles, 0.1 interceptions and 0.8 clearances in the 216 minutes he had on the pitch in the Premier League last season (WhoScored).
Pochettino has also had high praise for the youngster and has stated publicly that he felt the 18-year-old had the ability to be a player that would go to the top of the game (talkSPORT).
It should not come as a surprise to hear that Skipp is one of the latest Tottenham players to potentially receive a new contract in the near future, as he has shown plenty of promise that he could become a key member of the side.
Although it is still very early into his career, the 18-year-old should be looking to go from strength-to-strength and continue to push himself further into contention and make Pochettino consider him for a starting spot.
