Tottenham Hotspur set to rival Juventus in bid to sign Barcelona man

The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that they can compete with Italian giants Juventus in their bid to land a Barcelona midfielder this summer.

Reports coming out of Spain have indicated that both Tottenham and Juventus had been interested in Barcelona’s out of favour midfielder Andre Gomes.

Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Tottenham will maintain their offer for Gomes after seeing a late attempt to sign him on deadline day this summer fall short of completion.

Juventus are also keen on the Portugal international, who has struggled to make his mark in Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona side and could move away in the January transfer window.

When the window re-opens in the new year, Mauricio Pochettino is set to make the same offer for Gomes.

With the World Cup coming up next summer, Andre Gomes is reportedly looking for a move so that he can get some playing time and stake a claim for a starting spot in the Portuguese national side.

Tottenham could move ahead of Juventus in the race to sign their man.

The Italian Serie A champions are reportedly losing patience after Barcelona played hardball in the summer and insisted he was not for sale.
