Tottenham supporters inside the Football Transfer Tavern have pricked up their ears as Jamie Sanderson of Metro reveals the club are interested in bringing Lyon star Lisandro Lopez to White Hart Lane.
The 30-year-old striker has spoken of his desire to quit the French club after a series of rows with manager Remi Garde – news that has put Tottenham on red alert.
Andre Villas-Boas is thought to be a long-term admirer of the forward, who has managed 11 goals in 29 matches this season, and with the clubs need for a striker obvious, a summer deal is thought to be in the pipeline, especially with the player admitting his future lies elsewhere.
“I don’t think it is possible for me to continue here,” said Lopez.
“Before the end of the season I’m going to meet with the president and the coach and we’ll see.”
Tottenham have been chasing a striker for the last two transfer windows, only to miss out on both occasions at the last second.
Emmanuel Adebayor was signed after a succesful loan spell last summer, but has endured a torrid campaign, meaning Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe have almost single handedly scored the goals to take Tottenham to the brink of Champions League football.
Spurs could even look to sell Adebayor in the summer and make a profit, as Lopez is expected to cost no more than £5 million.
