The Football Transfer Tavern has been rather quiet for a Saturday with only the latest transfer speculation to keep punters occupied.
One interesting story that stood out for us comes from The Express who suggest that Tottenham could revive their interest in Uruguayan defender Alvaro Pereira after failing to land him during the summer.
Italian reports indicate that his club Inter Milan could be ready to sell the 27-year-old after he fell down the pecking order at the San Siro.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who worked with Pereira so successfully at FC Porto, is reportedly keen to bring the left back to England in the upcoming transfer window.
It is one position Tottenham have looked short in this season after loaning Benoit Assou-Ekotto to QPR for the season and the Inter man would add more quality to already stubborn Spurs back line.
Pereira made the switch to Italy in August 2010, but he has since struggled for regular playing time in Serie A and a transfer to the Premier League could suit all parties.
This is certainly a rumour that won’t go away in the tavern and a reunion with Villas-Boas and the full back looks increasingly likely as the Portuguese boss aims to improve his squad in the winter window.
Can Spurs successfully land the Inter defender and do they really need him? Let us know your thoughts below.
