Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been alerted to suggestions they are to sign a new goalkeeper imminently, with concerns regarding Hugo Lloris’ future.
SportsMole cites The Sun as stating Mauricio Pochettino’s side are targeting a swoop for Sunderland stopper Jordan Pickford, who is currently on-loan at League One outfit Preston North End.
The 21-year-old has earned vast amounts of praise for his performances away from Wearside and has three England U21 caps to his name, whilst he’s also been linked to Manchester United and Aston Villa.
However, Tottenham are looking to steal a march on their rivals and have identified Pickford as an ideal back-up signing as fears grow that they could lose Hugo Lloris at the end of the season.
Lloris is desperate for Champions League football, which Spurs have been unable to offer, and the French international is likely to leave next summer if the Lilywhites once again fail to achieve a spot amongst the top-four in the Premier League.
Chelsea’s disastrous campaign has handed them a major boost but they still face a stern test, with Liverpool being their direct rivals whilst West Ham United and Leicester City are currently flying-high.
Spurs fans, will Lloris leave? Is this the right sort of signing to replace him? Let us know in the comments below!
