Tottenham are set to move for the Football Transfer Tavern’s favourite Brazilian Paulinho this summer and talks have already begun according to the Daily Mirror.
Spurs had been intent on signing Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin but the Italian side want over £20 million for the Colombian playmaker who played for Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas when they were together at Porto.
Paulinho has a buy out clause of £17 million in his current contract at Brazilian club Corinthians but Tottenham are keen to negotiate an even lower fee for the 24-year-old who is in the Brazil squad for the Confederations Cup.
The midfielder played against England earlier this month at the renovated Maracana and was also in the Corinthians side that beat Chelsea in the Club World Cup last season.
Tottenham are set to offload Scott Parker, Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore this summer leaving room for a talented central midfielder to battle with Sandro, Mousa Dembele and Lewis Holtby for a starting spot.
The future of Gareth Bale will decide a lot of Tottenham’s transfer business but they are keen on Paulinho no matter what happens to their key man Gareth Bale.
