Tottenham interested in Ben Chilwell

Tottenham Hotspur could be prepared to play another waiting game for one of England’s brightest talents.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Spurs are interested in Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, although it is claimed that they could wait until next summer to make an offer for the player.

The left-back has just been promoted to the main England squad by Gareth Southgate for their friendly match with Switzerland on Tuesday night after putting in a number of impressive performances.

Chilwell has played in all four of Leicester’s Premier League matches so far and has been attracting interest from a number of the Premier League’s clubs for a while.

However, it appears that Tottenham are the latest to have placed him on their radar and are thought to be monitoring the full-back, as they are prepared to wait and could make a potential bid next summer.

The Verdict:

Spurs playing a long waiting game has not always worked for them, with a move for Jack Grealish having failed most recently in the summer transfer window.

With interest already having been shown in Chilwell in the past, it would seem that they may not have the time to wait on him, whilst he could also cost them a fair bit more in the summer, should he continue to impress.

However, a move away from the King Power Stadium is not a given either, as Leicester have shown in the past that they will do everything they can to keep their best players at the club, despite some of the Premier League’s biggest sides doing what they can to take them from them.
