Tottenham interested in Koray Gunter

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to head into the January transfer window with intentions of being active.

Spurs failed to add a single signing in the summer and with injuries starting to mount up, the side have started to look a little threadbare in places.

There are also concerns over the futures of some of Mauricio Pochettino’s stars, so he may head into the market to look for players that he will deem as replacements, with reports in Italy suggesting he may have found one for his defence.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are thought to be keen on Koray Gunter, a player thought to have been scouted numerous times by the Premier League outfit.

It is understood that Spurs will watch the defender in action again at the weekend when Genoa take on Napoli.

The centre-back joined the Serie A outfit in the summer from Galatasaray on a free transfer, but the 24-year-old has been in and out of the starting XI.

The Verdict:

Tottenham have been linked with a number of defenders and Gunter is just the latest name to be added to the list.

With doubts over Toby Alderweireld’s future and Juan Foyth having a difficult Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Pochettino is thought to be considering a move for the German.

However, as he has only joined Genoa recently, it is likely that if any move were to happen, they would need to spend big as he will be tied down to a lengthy contract and the Serie A side will be under no pressure to sell.
