Tottenham keeping tabs on Nathan Ake

Tottenham Hotspur are considering their options as they look to make reinforcements in the January transfer window.

According to a report in The Daily Star, Spurs are thought to be set to compete with Manchester United for Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake.

It is understood that Mauricio Pochettino has been tracking the young Dutchman in recent weeks as he feels he is a viable replacement for Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgium international is still believed to be refusing to sign a contract extension, leading them to take an interest in the Cherries star.

The defender has earned rave reviews for his performances on the south coast since joining them from Chelsea at the beginning of last season.

The Verdict:

The Alderweireld situation will be something of a worry and Spurs will need to find a solution for it, should he decide to leave the club.

Ake would certainly be a great replacement for the Belgian as he still has a huge number of footballing years ahead of him.

His performances for Bournemouth have been solid so far this season, having helped them to a great start in the Premier League this season.

However, Spurs could find it difficult to land Ake, as Eddie Howe has openly admitted in the past that the player is key to their efforts and wants to build his team around the 23-year-old.
