Tottenham launch bid to sign exceptional Serie A striker

BerardiTottenham Hostpur fans who were considering leaving the Transfer Tavern early after they reportedly missed out on several transfer targets may be persuaded to stay after it was reported that their club have made a bid for Domenico Berardi by The Evening Standard.

The January transfer window has been open for just over a week, but the Premier League’s biggest clubs are the ones who are yet to make their transfer moves.

Included in that bracket of clubs is fourth-placed Tottenham, whose fans were becoming increasingly anxious after reports state that transfer target Saido Berahino has been linked with a move to Newcastle.

Our resident Spurs fans are slightly concerned that any injury to star striker Harry Kane would surely prevent their team from securing a top four finish once again this campaign and saw Berahino as the ideal signing to ensure that they had enough squad depth for the remainder of the season.

However, the Lilywhites’ supporters can go and enjoy a drink at the bar after news that Mauricio Pochettino has identified another potential transfer target to bolster his attacking options in the form of highly-rated Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi.

The word around the Transfer Tavern is that the London based outfit have made a £26 million bid for the 21-year old, which would make him the third most expensive signing in Spurs’ history.

However, Spurs need to act fast to secure the youngster’s signature, with Barcelona amongst those debating whether to make a bid for the former Juventus forward, whilst the Italian giants themselves reportedly have an option to bring the forward back to Turin in 2016.

The Italian has accumulated 31 goals and 16 assists in 61 appearances, and although Berardi is not appearing to be as prolific this season, he has a habit of netting crucial goals, such as the last minute penalty winner against Inter Milan at the weekend.

In addition, the Italian reached 30 league goals in 59 games, which was noted by UEFA to be quicker than the 70 matches it took for Lionel Messi to reach the same milestone.

Our Landlord thinks that Berardi would be an excellent signing for Pochettino’s men in both the short and long term.
