Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern endured a disappointing weekend, which is rare for the North London giants this season, after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by fellow Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.
The fans have been given a boost today though as they tuck into a pub lunch to kick-off the final week in February and our punters have reacted excitingly to these reports.
The Daily Mirror states Tottenham are leading the chase to sign highly-rated Gent striker Laurent Depoitre, with the Belgian international ready to move this summer as he enters the final 16 months of his current contract.
27-year-old Depoitre has been in electric form this season for Belgian site Gent, scoring 13 goals, and his form has attracted a wealth of Premier League interest, with no fewer than seven clubs from England’s top-flight chasing his signature.
Rated at around £12m, Gent are ready to sell in the summer after the experienced forward turned down fresh terms and Tottenham will hope he’s the answer to their long search for a strike partner to Harry Kane.
Our landlord believes Depoitre has shown the strengths to be successful in English football and believes his signature will help Spurs domestically and on the European stage.
