Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are enjoying life of late and suggestions that the club are close to bringing highly rated German international Lewis Holtby to the club have raised eyebrows at the pool table.
The 22-year-old is ready to leave Schalke after failing to agree a new deal with the Bundesliga club and Metro journalist Danny Griffiths is suggesting that a pre-contract move to North London could be on the cards with the German club ready to cash in now to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer.
Griffiths states that Daniel Levy is ready to offer the player £60,000k-per-week to secure his transfer and he is thought to be keen to make the move to England.
Holtby decided to play for Germany despite having an English father and has since won three caps for the national team with Arsenal and Liverpool also known to be monitoring his progress in Germany.
Andre Villas-Boas wants to strengthen his side’s chances of gaining that sought-after fourth place spot in the Premier League to guarantee Champions League football next term and a signing of the likes of Holtby could assist this aim.
