There is breaking news here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro have claimed that James Forrest has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as a potential replacement for Gareth Bale.
Bale of course has been the stand out player for Spurs this season and has long been attracting attention from Real Madrid. Spurs are preparing themselves for a potential back up plan in the shape of Scotland international Forrest.
The Celtic winger is impressing for the Scottish Premier League side and is a couple of years behind Gareth Bale at the tender age of 21. He may only have netted three goals this season but he is more than capable of putting the ball in the back of the net and last term banged in nine goals from the flanks.
Spurs fans will remember Bale took a while to get to the stage he is currently at – starting as a left back and progressing from there. The North London club and manager Andre Villas-Boas have identified spring heeled Forrest as a target and should Bale leave, are fully ready to swoop and bring the winger to White Hart Lane.
Will Spurs plug the gap left by Bale with Forrest? Will Bale leave at all? Let us know your thoughts below.
