Today is one if those days as The Mirror suggest an audacious swap deal could be on the cards at Tottenham in the summer,
Neil McLeman is the man with the reports from the paper as he indicates that Spurs are plotting to swap misfit winger Erik Lamela for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli at the end of the season.
It’s an incredible story that has caused a few of our punters to put their pints down and listen intently to the Mirror journalist who explains that Lamela could return to the Serie A with Milan reportedly interested.
The Argentine international was signed in a £30 million club record transfer fee in the summer but the 21-year-old has struggled to adapt to the Premier League, with both Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood leaving him on the sidelines.
This could see the former Roma man heading back to the Serie A after less than 12 months with Spurs director of football Franco Baldini lining up a swap deal with Balotelli.
The maverick striker was loved and loathed in equal measure in the tavern during his time at Manchester City, and certainly things are never dull when the Italian is around.
It is hard to see Mario swapping life in Milan for Spurs, especially if the club fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
We honestly believe that this speculation belongs in the ‘not going to happen file’ but what do you think? Can you really see Mario joining Spurs in the summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
