The main source of topic for discussion in the past few days among Tottenham supporter hasn’t been about whether or not Gareth Bale will leave for Real Madrid but more importantly finding at least one suitable replacement for the Welsh international star.
The Express report that Spurs have now targeted a move for Real Betis youngster Alvaro Vadillo given the imminent departure of Bale.
According to Spanish sources, the White Hart Lane club were impressed with Vadillo during the recent European Under-19 Championship and had scouts watching the 18-year-old starlet as Betis played Fulham at Craven Cottage in a friendly fixture on Monday.
While Spurs are yet to submit a firm offer for one of the brightest Spanish prospects, talks have begun and these could accelerate if Real Madrid are successful in their pursuit of Bale.
Betis club president Miguel Guillen has already indicated that Spurs will have to pay a heavy transfer fee to land the wonderkid who has been branded as the new Cristiano Ronaldo although he is thought to have a release clause of £17.3 million in his current contract.
Guillen said: “The club’s intention is that Vadillo shall stay at Betis. For us to allow our young prodigy to depart, there would have to be a very strong financial benefit for the club.
“Vadillo has a great future in front of him, and we are very excited thinking about what he is going to bring to us during this coming season.”
Vadillo became the second youngest player to play in La Liga after making his debut as a 16-year-old and he has been repeatedly linked with a move to England, even reportedly starting English lessons two years ago, further fuelling rumours of a move.
