Tottenham and Liverpool fans often find themselves arguing in the Football Transfer Tavern about which club will win the latest transfer business and it’s all kicked off again following the latest report from the Daily Mirror.
The pair are set to battle it out for the signature of Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony, who are close to admitting defeat in their attempts to keep the 25-year-old.
Bony scored 25 goals in all competitions in his first season in England and is said to be desperate to move to a bigger club.
The Swans are said to have dropped his £19 million buy-out clause in the hope of offloading a player who is no longer happy.
Swansea boss Garry Monk has been desperate to keep his star man and launched a charm offensive last week in the hope of convincing the Ivory Coast international to stay.
“I’ve said all along how important Wilfried is to us and what a good player he is. For me I can help him become an even better player this season,” he said.
But Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins admitted it would be difficult to keep hold of Bony should an offer from a top club come in.
“If a top Champions League club comes in, and puts the right offer on the table, then of course we will speak to Bony,” he said.
Liverpool are on the lookout for a new striker following the £75 million sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, whilst the Reds missed out on QPR forward Loic Remy after the Frenchman reportedly failed a medical.
