Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have raised a glass to celebrate a successful season and they’re hoping some big business this summer can help them compete for honours next season.
The Sun on Sunday states Mauricio Pochettino has placed a striker top of his summer wish-list, as Spurs look to fend off a host of competitors to win the race for FC Basel’s electric forward Breel Embolo.
19-year-old Cameroonian-born Embolo is highly-rated after some brilliant performances in Switzerland during the past two seasons and he’s raised a lot of interest, with Basel demanding around £20m for the teenager this summer.
One of Spurs’ major criticisms during their brilliant past two years has been the lack of cover for Harry Kane, with the Lilywhites likely to struggle if the England international suffers an injury, and Pochettino’s to strengthen his attacking line with a quality partner for their star-man.
Our landlord feels Embolo would fit in perfectly with Spurs philosophy but has urged Pochettino to complete a deal quickly, before interest in the player rises further.
Spurs fans, would Embolo and Kane be a strike force that could win you the Premier League? Let us know in the comments below!
