Tottenham looking to hijack Arsenal’s move for quality striker

InsigneTottenham Hotspur fans are celebrating loudly in the Transfer Tavern, after their drinks to start the week were disrupted by reports that Spurs are looking to beat Arsenal to a quality forward.

The Daily Express, reporting via CalcioMercatoare reporting that Tottenham have made Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne their prime target for the summer, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side looking to beat Arsenal to the player’s signature.

Tottenham are continuing to look for the perfect strike partner to Harry Kane and the fans are expecting some high profile arrivals this summer, with Spurs on-course to qualify for the Champions League and possibly finish above Arsenal, potentially as Premier League champions.

Arsenal’s own interest in Insigne is long-term, whilst the Italian forward’s agent Antonio Ottaiano revealed recently revealed the Gunners wanted to sign the striker during the January window.

“PSG and Arsenal are clubs at the top of the world and their interest is certainly gratifying. But right now Lorenzo is only thinking about Napoli.”

With both North London outfits on course for a Champions League finish, securing Insigne may come down to who offers the most first-team opportunities and better chances of success.

Our landlord feels Arsenal may have the edge when it comes to first-team chances but he feels Tottenham have proved themselves this season and will be very difficult to beat in the market this summer.
