A group of Liverpool supporters have taken residence around the log fire in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
Discussion amongst them has been mainly focused on possible transfer targets for their side with the winter window shutting tomorrow.
The Reds are currently sat in fourth place in the Premier League and there is a strong belief that a positive end to the transfer window could help fetch Champions League football back to Anfield.
One player that these supporters hope to see arriving at Anfield is Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk’s Yevhen Konoplyanka, who has been strongly linked with a switch to Merseyside in the past few days.
It has even been reported that the club’s managing director Ian Ayre has travelled to Ukraine to finalise a £16 million transfer as Brendan Rodgers seeks to strengthen his attacking options.
However today’s copy of The Telegraph has them worried as the paper reports that a Tottenham are preparing to beat Liverpool to the 24-year-old Ukraine international before tomorrow’s deadline.
The Lilywhites are reportedly planning to hijack the deal for the versatile attacker, something Reds in the bar are becoming all too familiar with after seeing long-term target Mohamed Salah join Chelsea earlier this month.
Watching Salah sign for their Premier League rivals has forced Rodgers to look at other attacking options with Konoplyanka thought to be the prime target. But this reported interest from White Hart Lane has caused some rather worried looks in the bar.
