It’s a busy day for the Daily Mirror‘s Darren Lewis in the Football Transfer Tavern as I am now serving him for the third time.
Darren is in this time with more Tottenham Hotspur news and it is about the potential arrival of Roma’s dynamic attacking midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
Darren gathers all the punters around, checks his watch and then begins. Spurs have made an approach for the £15 million-rated Bosnian international midfielder – a player that they have been, and to use Darren’s words, “keen on for some time”.
The deal won’t be as easy as the North London club had hoped though, as Roma are keen to keep hold of the former Lyon man, as he hasn’t quite settled at the Serie A club but they believe the 23-year-old has huge potential.
This news excites a few of the Spurs regular’s and one even quips: “He is sick on FIFA” and after conferring with the young waitress working with me, I work out that “sick” is actually a term of praise.
Pjanic actually scored twice against Toronto FC 4-1 in a friendly on Wednesday and after the match, Roma coach Rudi Garcia stated: “What Miralem did last year I do not care. The Pjanic I see today is what I’ve known in France.”
