Tottenham’s out of favour Mexican Giovanni dos Santos is attracting interest from a number of clubs. Liverpool, Inter Milan, Sevilla and Villarreal are all looking at a January move for the winger.
Giovanni is a product of the Barcelona academy, having been there since the age of fourteen. He made a good number of appearances for the Catalan club before a move to Tottenham in 2008. Since then he has struggled to hold a regular place in Tottenham’s packed out midfield. With competition from the likes of Luka Modric, Aaron Lennon, Niko Kranjcar and Gareth Bale he’s spent the majority of the last two seasons out on loan, first at Ipswich and then Galatasaray. With the recent signing of Rafael van der Vaart it looks even more likely he’ll be on his way out.
After having a good World Cup the Mexican has become a much sought after player. Harry Redknapp would probably be happy to let him go, and he’d most likely be available at a good price. Ideal for a cash strapped Liverpool.
After a horrendous start to his tenure Roy Hodgson is keen to bring in players in January and Giovanni would fit the bill. With Joe Cole being used more as a support to Torres the Merseyside club are without a natural left winger. And he’d certainly add some quality to a struggling side.
While there are plenty of foreign clubs interested in him, a move to Liverpool could be attractive should their off field problems be sorted.
He looks certain to move in January, and there’ll be plenty after him I would think.
